First Sale at our Landmark Main Art Theater Artist Exhibition!

Thank you to local model and actor, Mr. Thomas December, for making the inaugural art purchase at our Main Art Theater Artist Exhibition.

The exhibition is going on through the month of December – be sure to go check it out! 50% of the proceeds from all art sales will go to the Brain Injury Association on Michigan!

Martha Cassell, Nichole Buryta, and Linda Pillow attended the 7th Annual Acclaimed Mingle, hosted by Acclaimed Home Care. The event was a fundraiser for the Brain Injury Association of Michigan, and was held aboard the Ovation Yacht, located in St. Clair Shores. It was a beautiful summer evening boat tour on Lake St. Clair, with attendance of over 200 guests.

Cassell & Associates donated two planters for giveaways. We are proud to announce Al Ellis, OTRL of Advantage OT, and Martha Levandowski, Administrative Director of CPAN, as our lucky winners. Cassell & Associates continues to be an active sponsor/supporter of BIAMI in recognition of the invaluable educational, advocacy, and legislative work they perform. Acclaimed Home Care has a history of charitable donations to a variety of recipients, and we applaud their philanthropic endeavors. Cassell & Associates in the Community: The Guiding Star Foundation

Cassell & Associates had the pleasure of being a contest sponsor at the 2016 golf fundraiser event for The Guiding Star Foundation. The Guiding Star Foundation, a non-profit organization, provides opportunities for disabled individuals to pursue adaptive activities and/or acquire equipment needed to maximize their independence.

The event was held at the Captains Club at Woodfield in Grand Blanc. Martha Cassell and Linda Pillow spent a beautiful, sunny day on the course handing out water bottles in koozies to all the golfers, and talking about the services available at Cassell & Associates. Cassell & Associates sponsored the Men’s “Closest to the Tee” contest, with Matt Blouin of Centria Health Care taking the prize. We observed some amazing and quite interesting golfing techniques, as well as some pretty cool golfing outfits!

Healthier Food Choices?

At both Cassell & Associates locations, we have on-site cafés. Fresh fruit, breakfast and lunch sandwiches, beverages, snacks, and more are available to purchase during scheduled lunches and breaks.

Recently, our Healthy Living Group collaborated with Cassell & Associates East’s Administrative Group and created an easy-to-use “healthier options” chart. A chart is now located at each café register, to help guide patrons who wish to watch nutritional values. The nutrition guide includes values for beverages, sandwiches, and other items. Whether watching Sodium, Sugar, or Calories, this easy-to-follow guide is ready to help Survivors make healthier choices!

Supporting our Military, One Troop at a Time!

Cassell & Associates Rehabilitation Specialist, Katielynn G., and a group of Survivors recently orchestrated a “care package” collection for U.S. military troops overseas. The care packages include everything from hygiene necessities to fun snacks and DVD’s. While members of the group worked on packaging the items for shipment, they discussed what it meant to “give back”.

“I think there’s a lot of healing when you give your time…” Katie stated.

One Survivor pointed out that there is a lot of therapeutic value in being able to take care of yourself when life gets crazy. “I thought of all of the people who can’t take time for themselves. For women, after handling machine guns and being aggressive, it would be nice to get a bottle of nail polish and feel girly,” she stated.

“It’s nice to help others – I’ve received a lot of help from others in the past, and I want to return it in some way. When someone’s in need and you can help out, you should. It’s the American way,” expressed Kit, a Survivor who helped coordinate the collection.

“I was really excited to see everyone help each other and organize this. Even people I didn’t expect brought things in. Just seeing how everyone was excited and came together to do something bigger than themselves was inspiring,” said Katie, who will be shipping the packages to Kosovo this afternoon. Included in the package is a special painting that was completed by several participants in Cassell & Associates’ paint groups, custom made greeting cards, and hand written letters.  The group is looking forward to corresponding with the troops, and learning more about what types of items they look most forward to receiving when they’re deployed.

THANK YOU to the many men and women who serve our military!
