Promoting social, emotional, and physical health ...

Many of our clients with traumatic brain injuries need a structured, supervised, convenient, and emotionally safe place to exercise. While exercise in a community-based environment such as the YMCA is always the best alternative, many people with traumatic brain injuries are unable to follow through at these facilities due to problems with initiation, transportation, or a need for assistance and supervision.
Our Fitness/Socialization Program has been carefully and specifically designed to offer an individually-accommodated program for clients to promote social, emotional, and physical health and well-being.
For clients who have not exercised or been in therapies for many years, we are able to develop functional programs whereby we are seeing significant improvements in the areas of physical strength, endurance, emotional health, pain management, anger management, and personal motivation.
For others who have been more recently injured, fitness programs are often developed through a team approach that includes therapists from outside of Cassell & Associates. As discharge from traditional occupational and physical therapy approaches, treatment plans are often developed to transition the client’s physical rehabilitation goals into our functional setting. The treatment plan is approved by the client’s own physician.
Clients choose from a variety of fun individual and group activities - including yoga, calisthentics, basketball, fitness groups, outdoor walking - that allow them to achieve the goals they desire for general wellness in a socially therapeutic milieu.
